Pippa Middleton's toy-gun-toting companion Arthur de Soultrait apologizes for tabloid scandal

One of Pippa Middleton's pistol-waving friends is très désolé over a foul joke gone wrong.

French aristocrat Arthur de Soultrait was within the automotive together with her Royal Hotness last Saturday when she was snapped smiling as a fellow passenger waved a toy gun at photographers.

And on Wednesday, he apologized.

“Last Saturday, i used to be in an exceedingly automotive with Philippa Middleton, and that we were being followed by paparazzi,” he wrote in an exceedingly statement, released in Paris Wednesday afternoon.


“She had been subject to constant and dangerous harassment by paparazzi throughout her time in Paris. The automotive was being driven by an admirer of mine, whom Pippa had solely met a couple of hours before. As a joke, my friend brandished a toy pistol in their direction.”


The photographer who captured the image of the 28-year-old grinning alongside the wannabe French gangster told a French tabloid that he knew the weapon to be faux.

“We had been following Pippa since the start of the day. She was hyper cool; we have a tendency to even spoke together with her and her friends,” the paparazzo told Gala magazine. “When the driving force pulled out his plastic pistol, it had been for a joke, to amuse.

“A jiffy later, when the vehicle had parked, i used to be able to bit the plastic weapon that the driving force showed to me. it had been attainable to ascertain that it had been the type of issue you'd notice in an exceedingly toy look.”

Middleton was reportedly on her thanks to a lavish costume party to celebrate de Soultrait’s birthday.

But it had been de Soultrait who was apologetic regarding ruining the group’s outing that day.

“Obviously, Philippa had no concept he was reaching to do this and told him to prevent immediately,” he continued in his statement. “She didn't notice it funny.

“I regret enormously that this incident happened, and particularly that Pippa has been subject to the next attention through no fault of her own. I actually have apologized to her for this.”

If prosecuted for having a gun in public, Middleton may have faced up to seven years in jail if the gun were real, and up to 2 years although it had been not, in step with French law.
