Disco Queen Donna Summer Dead At 63

Donna Summer, 63, died this morning when battling lung cancer, in keeping with TMZ.com. The Queen of Disco was known for her iconic 1970's hit songs "Last Dance," "Hot Stuff" and "Bad Girls" and therefore the Nineteen Eighties tunes "She Works arduous for the Money" and "This Time i do know It's for Real." In 1975, "Love to like You Baby" became an enormous hit in Europe and changed into a dance sensation within the us when it had been remixed into a 17-minute-long song.

Summer was a five-time Grammy winner: 1979 – Best R&B Vocal Performance (Female), Last Dance; 1980 – Best Rock Vocal Performance (Female), Hot Stuff; 1984 – Best Inspirational Performance, he is a Rebel; 1985 – Best Inspirational Performance, Forgive Me; 1998 – Best Dance Recording, Carry On. She was the primary musician to possess 3 consecutive number-one double albums.

She was born LaDonna Andre Gaines on New Year's Eve 1948 within the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Mass., and was one among seven kids. She got her begin in music by singing during a church gospel choir.

In her early 20s she stayed in Germany where she met and married Helmut Sommer in 1971, adopting a version of his last name. They later divorced and she or he went on to marry Bruce Sudano. She is survived by her husband, 3 kids and 4 grandchildren.
