"That's a long way from now -- years when it comes to this story," Us Weekly's senior editor Bradley Jacobs told ABC News. "There might be a large amount of changes until then."

A resource told the magazine Thursday that Pattinson is "heartbroken and angry," adding, "I'm not sure they'll be in a position to get over this."

The show, however, goes on.

"They're going to have to promote this film around the world, so they have to remain at least on cordial terms," Jacobs said concerning the couple who met on the set of first "Twilight" film 4 years ago. "I'm sure they'll both breathe a huge sigh of relief once the movie comes and goes. But for now, they're going to be very stressed out."

Appearing in public places Thursday the very first time since issuing a public apology to her boyfriend of three years, Stewart wore tattered gym shorts along with a T-shirt and seemed to have dark circles under her eyes.

In a groveling mea culpa Wednesday, Stewart claimed responsibility for Pattinson's heartbreak after cheating on him together with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders.

"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect probably the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry," she said inside a statement to People Wednesday.

I really like all of them with all my heart. I'm praying that people could possibly get through this together."

Although "Twilight" fans have taken to Twitter to convey their shock and disappointment, in addition to offer their condolences to Pattinson, Jacobs believes they will still turn up at the box office this fall.

"A large amount of them might want they didn't learn about this scandal," he said. "But they really want to see this movie no matter what. I don't think the box office will be hurt."

As for Stewart's career, Jacobs believes there will definitely be an impact to have an affair having a married man 19 years her senior.

"It's one of the key moments of her career, besides getting the 'Twilight' gig," Jacobs said. "But she is still young and it's very early in her career. You may refer to it as an earlier indiscretion. Take a look at Angelina Jolie. At that age, she was cruising out and about with Billy Bob Thornton's blood inside a vial and kissing her brother."

"Certainly you will never buy her as some innocent on screen anymore," Jacobs said about Stewart. "But she never was really an ingenue anyway. She's been an old soul in a young woman's body."
